Former Pitt and NFL linebacker Scott McKillop will begin his first season with Seton Hill in 2017. McKillop will be in charge of the safeties while coaching at Seton Hill.
Prior to coming to Seton Hill, McKillop spent one season at Concord University where he coached the linebackers and was special teams coordinator. At Concord, he coached a first team All Mountain East linebacker and led the special teams to a top 10 net punting average in Division II.
The Export, Pennsylvania native was a fifth-round selection by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2009 NFL Draft. During his rookie season, McKillop played in all 16 games and led the 49ers' special teams unit in tackles and even recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown. Due to injury, McKillop's pro career was cut short in 2010.
McKillop played collegiately at the University of Pittsburgh where he was named an All-American during his senior season in 2008 and was also tabbed the Big East Defensive Player of the Year. As a junior, McKillop also led the nation in tackles per game as a junior at Pitt as he racked up an average of 12.5 stops per game. He finished his career in the top ten in tackles all time for the Panthers and was a two time first team All Big East selection.
McKillop started his coaching career at Pitt in 2014 as a volunteer assistant. He spent the 2015 season as the defensive Graduate Assistant.
He is a 2008 graduate of Pittsburgh with a bachelors degree in business-marketing. Scott was also a recipient of the Panther Award, one of the universities most celebrated senior student-athlete award. His name is also engraved on Pitt's Varsity Walk.
McKillop was an All State performer in football and wrestling at Kiski Area High School.
McKillop and his wife Lauren have a daughter, Harper.
