Coach Egar

Charles Eger

Coach Eger will begin his sixth season at Seton Hill after making the move from Widener to Seton Hill, following head coach Collins to Greensburg.  Coach Eger will lead the offense as offensive coordinator as well as coach the offensive line.

The Griffin offense continued to shine under Eger's leadership last season.  The offensive line was fifth in Division II and first in the PSAC in fewest sacks allowed.  The Griffins were third in the PSAC and 18th in the country in passing offense.  The team set a new single game record for rushing yards in a game and QB Christian Strong closed out a career where he holds all four passing career records (Yds, Att, Comp, TDs).  Two members of the offense were named to the All PSAC West Team.

Under Eger, the Griffin offense continued its assault on the record books in 2016.  The team led Division II in passing offense and was sixth in the country in total offense.  Seton Hill led the PSAC in both passing and total offense.  The team set individual and team records in individual passing attempts, completions, passing yards and touchdown passes.  The rushing offense also increased its yard per game average by over 20 yards per game to over 142 rushing yards per game.  Two members of the offense earned All PSAC West honors.

In 2015, the Griffins were 3rd in the entire PSAC in passing offense and 10th in total offense.  The team was 16th in Division II in pasing offense.  The offensive line allowed just 15 sacks on 513 passing attempts in 2015.  The rushing offense increased from over 80 yards a game in 2013 and 2014 to nearly 120 yards per game in 2015.

Over the 2014 and 2015 seasons, the Griffin offense has set 13 new school records.  In 2014, the Griffins led the PSAC in passing offense and were eighth in Division II.  The offensive line only allowed 12 sacks which was 16th in Division II.  In three seasons in the PSAC, the Griffin offense has had three All PSAC West selections including one first team selection and an Don Hansen All Region selection.

While spending three seasons at Widener, Coach Eger was the recruiting coordinator and offensive coordinator.  He coached the offensive line during his first two seasons before being the quarterbacks coach in 2012.  During his time at Widener, the offense improved from one of the worst in Division III to one of the best.  In the 2011 season, Widener had the highest scoring offense in Division III.  They were even able to improve on those numbers in 2012.  In 2012 he coached two offensive players who were named Second Team All Americans and four offensive players who were named First Team All Conference.  During the 2011 and 2012 seasons, the Widener offense led the MAC in scoring offense, passing offense and total offense and were top 10 in the nation in those categories as well.

Prior to coaching at Widener, Coach Eger coached at Central Connecticut State and Newington High School, where he was Associate Head Coach and offensive coordinator.  While at Central Connecticut State, Coach Eger helped turn the offense into one of the best in the NEC.  They led the NEC is rushing offense for all three seasons and were top 10 in the nation.  He also coached for all NEC selections during his time at CCSU.

Coach Eger earned his Bachelors Degree from Central Connecticut State and also earned his Masters in Physical Education: Exercise Science from Central Connecticut State.  He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specalist (CSCS) and a Certified USA Weight Lifting Coach (USAW).  He is also a member of the AFCA.
