Mike Houck returns for his fourteenth season as a volunteer working with the hitters and infielders. Houck came to SHU after serving three seasons as the head baseball coach at South Fayette High School. The Baldwin High School graduate had a stand-out career at Bethany College where he still holds a number of career records, including on-base-percentage and putouts, as well as hits in a season. Houck was two-time PAC 1st Team selection for the Bison and a 2001 MidEast Region All-American.
Houck broke into the coaching ranks as Marc Marizzaldi's assistant coach with the 1999 Baldwin American Legion squad before taking over the reigns of the Houston American Legion squad in 2000. He has also assisted with the Weirton, WV American Legion while serving as a private hitting instructor in the Pittsburgh area.
