At Akron Central, Garrett was a four-year varsity starter and a team captain . . .  He was a two time team MVP posting a career record of 120 – 40 with 79 of his wins by pin . . . He was a two time NO League Champion and a Section 6 Class C Champion . . .  He holds seven career school records.
