Six Griffins Named to ABCA/Rawlings All Region Teams

Postseason recognition continues to come in for the Seton Hill baseball program after another successful season.  

On Tuesday, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced its All Region Teams.  Six Griffins were honored with ABCA/Rawlings All Region Honors.  Five were first team selections and one earned second team honors.  

Sophomore Brady McGuire was named the Regional Player of the Year in addition to being a first team selection at third base. Junior Jakob Haynes was a first team selection at catcher.  Junior Owen Henne was a first team selection at shortstop.  Senior Jack Whalen was a first team selection in the outfield and sophomore Sean Williams was a first team selection as a starter.  Junior Mark Wechtenhiser was a second team selection as a starter.  Henne, Haynes and Whalen all earned the award last season as well.  

McGuire leads the PSAC and the Griffins with a .443 average.  He also led the Griffins with 54 RBI which was second in the PSAC.  Brady added 48 runs scored, 8 doubles, a triple, 6 homers and 29 stolen bases in just 45 games played.  Whalen led the Griffins in many offensive categories.  He led SHU with 72 hits, 65 runs scored, 12 doubles, 3 triples and 44 stolen bases.  Jack led the PSAC in runs scored and stolen bases. He added 4 homers and 33 RBI.  Williams was 10-2 on the season with a 3.29 ERA.  He has worked 65.2 innings while allowing 55 hits and opponents to hit just .231 off him.  Sean has 52 strikeouts and threw the second no hitter in Seton Hill history this season.  Henne was second on the Griffins with a .401 average.  He added 10 doubles, a triple, 5 homers and 39 RBI.  He fielded at a .962 clip at shortstop.  Wechtenhiser is 8-2 on the season with a 3.68 ERA.  He has worked 58.2 innings and allowed 37 hits with opponents hitting just .181 off him.  Mark has 65 strikeouts on the season.  Haynes led the Griffins and the PSAC with 15 home runs.  He hit .335 on the season.  Jakob added 47 runs scored, 8 doubles, 1 triple and 53 RBI.

The ABCA/Rawlings All Region teams are selected by members of the ABCA All-America committees.

The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-America teams will be announced on Friday, May 29. Only First Team All-Region selections are eligible for All-America honors.

ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams for all divisions will be announced on Wednesday, June 17, while the 2026 ABCA NCAA Div. II Region All-Defensive teams will be released on Thursday, June 18.

The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now spans nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first introduced in 2007.
