Seton Hill began a four game PSAC West series with Lock Haven on Friday afternoon with a road doubleheader with the Bald Eagles.
The Griffins won game one by a 2-1 score. SHU completed the sweep with a 7-2 win in game two. SHU is now 23-6 overall and 10-0 in the PSAC West.
SHU needed just two hitters to take a lead in game one.
Jack Whalen drew a walk and stole second. He scored on a double from
Brady McGuire as the Griffins took a 1-0 lead.
Lock Haven tied the game at one with three straight singles to start their half of the first.
Mason Metz homered to lead off the second inning and put the Griffins in front 2-1.
McGuire led the offense with two hits.
Luke Deschenes earned the win. He went 6 innings and struck out three.
Zach Herb threw a scoreless seventh to earn the save,
SHU took an early lead in game two as well. McGure reached on an error and later scored on an
Owen Henne RBI single. Henne scored when
Gage Wheaton reached on a fielders choice. SHU increased their lead to 4-0 in the second.
Nate Dorinsky singled to lead off the inning. After two outs,
Jack Whalen doubled in a run and McGuire followed with an RBI single.
Lock Haven cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second with a two run homer. In the SHU fifth, Whalen tripled and scored on a McGuire RBI single. Henne walked and scored on a two run homer from
Jakob Haynesin the seventh.
Whalen, McGuire, Haynes and
Colin Ahr each had two hits. McGuire and Haynes each drove in two.
Mark Wechtenhiser earned the win.
SHU will host Lock Haven on Saturday afternoon.
