The Griffin track and field teams kicked off their outdoor track season at Shippensburg University on Saturday afternoon in the Keystone Challenge.
The men's team had 12 top eight finishes on the day while the women's team finished with ten top eight finishes.
Jacy Willis and
Kaden Crump each had a first place finish. Willis won the 400 in a time of 47.65 seconds. Crump won the 800 in a time of 1:59.57. Crump was also fourth in the 1500 (4:08.10). Willis was sixth in the 200 in a time of 21.95 seconds.
Angelo Allen had three top eight finishes. He was third in the discus (44.31m), fourth in the shot put (15.38m) and hammer (47.83m).
Blaise Verrastro was fourth in the 400 in a time of 49.57.
Cody Scherle was fifth in the javelin (54.20m).
Dwight Sarver was fifth in the discus (42.77m).
Shane Plante-King placed sixth in the triple jump (12.97m) and
Devin Underwood was sixth in the 100 (11.31).
Bryce Murray,
Nemani Moon and
Breeona Pheasant each had two top eight finishes. Murray was 2nd in the 100 in a time of 12.39 and fourth in the long jump (5.36m). Pheasant was 3rd in the 100 (12.93) and fifth in the 200 (26.02). Moon was fifth in the 400 (58.59) and seventh in the 200 (26.20).
Baine Snyder was third in the high jump with a mark of 1.50 meters.
Artemis Conaboy was sixth in the 400 (58.98) and
Kaitlyn Guth was seventh in the 400 (1:00.56). Elisabeth Keaton was seventh in the 100 (13.33).
The Griffins head to Carnegie Mellon next weekend.
