Seton Hill closed out PSAC Crossover action on Saturday afternoon as they hosted West Chester.
The Griffins pulled away late in the first half in route to a 97-83 victory over the Golden Rams. SHU is now 12-2 overall and 6-0 in PSAC play.
SHU took an early 5-0 lead on a three pointer from
Edir Ortiz and two free throws from
Camden Brewer. West Chester responded with an 8-2 run as they took an 8-7 lead just two minutes into the contest. A quick 5-0 run gave West Chester a 22-17 lead at the midpoint of the half. Five straight points from
Dimitrios Sklavenitis put the Griffins back in front 29-24 with 6:13 left in the half. Layups from Sklavenitis and Ortiz pushed the lead to 39-31 with 2:45 to play before the half. Brewer hit a late three as SHU led 45-35 at the halftime break.
The Griffins increased their lead to 57-41 with 14:33 on back to back baskets from Ortiz and Sklavenitis. The Golden Rams could not cut the Griffins lead less than ten points over the rest of the half as the Griffins were able to wrap up the win.
SHU shot 67% from the floor in the win while holding West Chester to just 47%. The Griffins were able to force 17 turnovers in the win.
Ortiz led five Griffins in double figures with 25 points. Sklavenitis added 21 points in the win. Curtis added 16 points.
Rashaad Williams finished with 13 points.
Gabe Gillespie just missed a double double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
SHU will begin PSAC West play on Wednesday evening as they travel to CalU.
