Seton Hill continued action in the Clarion Tournament on Friday with a pair of contests. The Griffins battled American International in the first match of the day then closed out play with a PSAC crossover matchup with Shippensburg.
The Griffins battled back from 2-1 down for a 3-2 victory over American International. SHU improved to 2-0 on the day and 3-0 on the season with a 3-1 victory over Shippensburg in the second contest.
SHU got off to a quick start vs AIC as they won the first set 25-10. AIC took the next two sets by 26-24 and 27-25 scores. The Griffins won the fourth set 25-16 and took the fifth and deciding set by a 15-11 score.
Catie Flohr led the Griffins with 15 kills.
Ella Deeter finished with 11 kills and
Payton Rodberg added 10.
Mallory Meinen led the offense with 22 assists while Deeter added 16.
Emma Meurer had eight blocks, Flohr added seven and
Elizabeth Kolkowski added six.
Kendyl Wagner had 24 digs to pace SHU.
Maddie Stout added 17.
After dropping the first set to the Raiders, the Griffins responded by winning the next three sets. Ship took the first set 25-22 before the Griffins tied the match with a 25-16 second set win. The Griffins won 25-20 in the third and closed out the match with a 25-23 fourth set win.
Flohr and Rodberg each led the Griffins with 14 kills. Kolkowski added 10 kills. Deeter ran the offense with 29 assists while Meinen added 24. Rodberg paced the Griffins with 20 digs while Wagner added 15.
SHU will close out play in Clarion on Saturday morning when they take on Goldey Beacom.
