The Seton Hill University Athletic Department has announced the four individuals who will make up the fourteenth class in the Seton Hill University Athletic Hall of Fame.
The 2025 Seton Hill Hall of Fame Class includes Nathan Davis '20 (Men's Basketball), Dontay Jacobs '19 (Track and Field), head coach
Ferne Labati (Women's Basketball) and Nick McGahagan '12 (Football).
These greats will be officially inducted at the 2025 Seton Hill Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner, which will take place on Friday, October 17th. The inductees will also be introduced during the Griffins' Homecoming football game against Gannon on Saturday, October 18th at 2 p.m.Â
NATHAN DAVIS '20
Nathan Davis will be remembered as one of the best student athletes to ever put on the Griffin Men's Basketball uniform. Â
Davis excelled on the court and in the classroom for the Griffins. Â
Davis was a two time All PSAC West selection. He also excelled in the classroom earning PSAC Winter Top Ten Award honors twice in his career. Nathan was a two time CoSIDA Academic All American including first team honors following his junior season. Â
Over his career, Davis finished with 1,712 points, 561 rebounds, 193 assists, 103 steals and eight blocks while shooting .821 from the line and .364 from three point land. He is second at Seton Hill in career points and field goals and holds the SHU single game records with 39 points and 10 three pointers.  Davis holds the Seton Hill single season free throw percentage at 92.5%, which is also a PSAC record.  Â
Davis graduated Summa cum laude in 2020 with BA in Spanish Education. After graduation Davis has been playing professionally overseas in Germany, Albania, Australia, and Ireland. In 2023, he was named an All-Star 5 Honorable Mention for the Big V league in Australia as well as the "Cougar of the Year" award by his club, McKinnon Cougar, where they won the league title. In 2024, Davis was named the MVP of the Limerick Sport Eagles Tournament in Limerick, Ireland. This past season Nathan returned to the McKinnon Cougars in Melbourne, Australia and again captured the league championship. He is now one of only a few players in the history of the club to win multiple rings.
DONTAY JACOBS '19
Dontay Jacobs was one of the best ever to step onto the track for the Seton Hill track and field program. Â
Jacobs was a two time NCAA National Qualifier in the 400 meter dash. Dontay was a six time USTFCCCA All Region selection. Â
Over his career, Jacobs was a second team All American in the 400 at the 2018 Outdoor Championships. Dontay was a four time PSAC Indoor Champion in the 400 and two time PSAC Outdoor Champion in the 400. He was also a part of a PSAC Outdoor and Indoor title as a member of the 4x4 relay. Jacobs holds the PSAC Indoor record in the 400 dash with a 47.29 and holds the SHU indoor and outdoor records in the 400.
Jacobs graduated from SHU in 2019 and earned a Bachelors in Exercise Science.  Since graduating, Dontay spent time as a track and field coach at Tiffin University while completing a master's degree in healthcare administration. During his years there, he was fortunate to be part of four men's conference championships and two women's championships. After graduate school, Jacobs moved to Raleigh, NC, to start a career in clinical research and project management. He worked at Syneos Health for two years before joining BeiGene, a biotech company focused on cancer research, where he has been for the past two years. Jacobs now lives in Uniontown, PA, and continues to stay active and committed to health and fitness alongside his career.
HEAD COACH FERNE LABATI
Ferne Labati took the Seton Hill women's basketball program to heights it had not seen before her arrival on the hill. Â
Labati posted a 117-73 record at Seton Hill in her seven seasons. Her 2009-2010 team made the program's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. In 2012-13, Labati led the Griffins to their first-ever appearance in the WVIAC Tournament Championship game. While at Seton Hill, Labati coached 13 All WVIAC team selections. She won her 500th game during the 2009-2010 season and was named the WVIAC Coach of the Year following the 2010-2011 season.
Off the court, Labati's teams at Seton Hill shined academically. In her final five seasons, the team was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Academic Top 25 Honor Roll. The team also earned the YWCA of Westmoreland County's Sports Team of the Year and Labati was named the YWCA of Westmoreland County's Coach of the Year.
Labati began her coaching career as an assistant coach at Immaculata College in 1976. Her first head coaching experience was at Trenton State University, where she led the program to the Division III National Tournament and the Division III Elite Eight in their first year of NCAA Championship play. After five years at Trenton, Labati took over the head coaching position at Farleigh Dickinson for four seasons before moving on to the University of Miami, FL. Labati led Miami to their first NCAA Tournament bid in 1989 and guided Miami to back-to-back Big East Regular Season and Conference Championships in 1992 and 1993. Over her 33-year coaching career, Labati amassed a 556-399 record. She has also received many honors during her coaching career, including the 1992 WBCA/Converse National Coach of the Year and the 1992 Big East Coach of the Year. In 2004, Labati was inducted into the University of Miami Athletic Hall of Fame and was named WBCA/Russell Regional Coach of the Year. Labati was part of the 2015 ACC Women's Basketball Legends Class and was a 2011 Camden County Sport Hall of Fame inductee. Â
NICK McGAHAGAN '12
Nick McGahagan was one of the best to suit up at the linebacker position for the Griffins. Â
McGahagan was a two time first team and three time overall All WVIAC selection for the Griffins. Nick was also a CoSIDA Academic All District selection after the 2011 season for his work on the field and in the classroom. In addition, Nick was named SHU Defensive MVP three times and was a two time team captain. In 2019, McGahagan was named one of the PSAC Football Top 150 Contributors. Â
After his career, Nick holds the Seton Hill single season mark for unassisted tackles and career record for unassisted tackles. He is second in tackles for loss and fourth in all time tackles. McGahagan finished his career with 293 total tackles including 193 solo tackles and 57 tackles for loss. Â
McGahagan graduated from Seton Hill in 2012 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Marketing Management. Â
