7/1/2025 12:00:00 PM

After a spectacular season on the mound where he earned multiple national awards, redshirt junior Ian Korn picked up another award, this one for his work on the field and in the classroom as he earned Academic All America honors on Tuesday afternoon.  Korn was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All American Division II Baseball Team as a first team selection.  It was his first selection as an Academic All American.

Korn is the third Griffin baseball player to earn the award joining Tommy Pellis and Brandon Bergert.  He joins track and field athletes, Samuel Hartman, Mallory Sanner, Kaitlyn Germanoski, Aron Kurzinski, Josh Wilks and Erin Beattie, men's basketball players Noah and Nathan Davis, football players Zach Delo, Logan Wiland and Tyler Zimmer, lacrosse player Anthony DeSana, women's basketball players Mia Kalich and Tiara Stossel, volleyball athlete Viktoria Farian, wrestler Damon Greenwald and men's soccer player Joe Smith as Griffin athletes to be named Academic All Americans.

A 3.83 sports management major, Korn helped the Griffins to their third straight NCAA Atlantic Super Regional.

Korn, a native of York, Pa., finished 11-2 on the season in helping the Griffins advance to the NCAA Atlantic Super Regional. In 14 starts, Korn compiled a 1.81 ERA in 84 1/3 innings with 83 strikeouts and 17 walks. He closed the season with four complete games and two shutouts, while opponents hit just .197 against him. In the latest NCAA statistics (May 26), Korn ranks second in ERA, fourth in WHIP (0.91), ninth in victories, 12th in hits allowed per nine innings (6.4) and 29th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.88).  Korn also led the PSAC in wins, ERA and opponent batting average.

Earlier this summer, Korn earned National Pitcher of the Year awards from the NCBWA, D2CCA and ABCA.  Korn is also a three time first team All American this season.  Ian was the Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Year and a three time first team All Region selection.  He also was the PSAC West Pitcher of the Year and a first team All PSAC West selection.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.
