Seton Hill University Athletics Director
Chris Snyder is leaving Seton Hill University after 21 years of service to look for new opportunities and challenges. His last day is June 30.
Chris came to Seton Hill in 2004 as the University's first head football coach in addition to his role as Executive Director for Athletics. He led the football program for its first three seasons before stepping down to assume the full-time athletic director role.
He was integral to the growth of Seton Hill's athletic programs, particularly the move from NAIA to NCAA Division II and later the university's move from the WVIAC to the PSAC. Chris has supported athletic recruitment efforts and helped with the expansion of team rosters, and has overseen the development of new athletic facilities on campus, including new turf facilities for baseball and softball. Chris has also played an important role in helping with fundraising, especially around the planned construction of a new Athletic Field House.
Under his leadership, Griffin teams have won multiple conference regular season and postseason championships and have advanced to numerous NCAA tournaments. Additionally, Seton Hill athletes, coaches and teams have received numerous postseason honors. And, our student-athletes have been consistently recognized for their academics by the PSAC and NCAA Division II.
Chris has amassed memories that will last a lifetime. He recalls many outstanding coaches, athletic staff members, student athletes and the support of so many faculty and staff. He experienced so many incredible thrills on the fields and courts, while struggling with tragic events off of them. Chris is proud of all that has been accomplished and knows Griffin Athletics is in a much better place today, in every way, than when he arrived. He shared, "Together we have achieved so much: improved academic performance, significant growth of our rosters, and vastly expanded and upgraded our facilities. We have also integrated principles within athletics to make us look like a member of NCAA Division II. As I depart, Seton Hill is well positioned moving forward."
With Snyder's departure, Vice President for Student Affairs, Planning & Athletics, Rosalie Carpenter has formed an athletics management team that will carry out the Athletics Director functions in the short term.
