Jack Whalen was named to the 2025 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Division II Gold Glove Team, The team was announced on Wednesday, June 18, by the ABCA.
Whalen is the first Griffin baseball player to earn a Rawlings Gold Glove at the national level.
A junior from North Huntingdon, Whalen, was a first team All PSAC West selection this season. Jack was the second leading hitter for the Griffins this season, hitting .318. Whalen led the Griffins with six triples while adding 7 doubles, 5 homers and 31 RBI. Jack also stole 21 bags.
Defensively, Whalen was stellar in the outfield, not committing an error in 127 chances. He finished with 124 putouts and three assists in the outfield.
The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Awards are selected by ABCA coaches committees at each level: NCAA Div. I, II & III, NAIA, NJCAA Div. I, II & III, Pacific Association Division, and High School.
The first ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were recognized in 2007, making this the 18th year the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Awards have been presented in the collegiate and high school ranks (no awards were presented in 2020 due to COVID-19).
