Korn Named NCBWA National Pitcher of the Year

Seton Hill redshirt junior starter Ian Korn earned a special award from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on Wednesday afternoon.  Korn was named the NCBWA Division II National Pitcher of the Year.  Korn is the first Griffin baseball player to earn a national player of the year award from the NCBWA.  

In addition to being named the national Pitcher of the Year, Korn was named an NCBWA 1st team All American.  He is the first Griffin to earn first team All American honors from the NCBWA since Nick Sell who was an NCBWA First Team All American following the 2015 season.  

Korn has earned multiple awards this season including being named the NCBWA and D2CCA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Year and  being a first team NCBWA and D2CCA All Atlantic Region selection.  Korn was the PSAC West Pitcher of the Year and a first team All PSAC West selection.  

Korn is 11-1 on the season with a 1.51 ERA.  In his 13 starts, Korn allowed just 50 hits in 77.1 innings of work.  Ian struck out 76 and opponents hit just .182 off him.  Ian leads the PSAC in wins, ERA and batting average against.  Korn has the top ERA in Division II so far this season.

The Griffins will play in the NCAA Atlantic Super Regional on Thursday at East Stroudsburg.
