The Griffin track and field team got in final preparations for next week's PSAC Championships at the 2025 Slippery Rock Last Chance Meet on Friday afternoon at the Rock.
The women's team finished the event with eleven top five finishes. The men added nine top five finishes.
Leading the way for the women was
Nemani Moon who set a new school in the 400 with a time of 56.47 seconds.
Haley Brenny won the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:00.33. That mark is the second best time in SHU history and a top 20 time in NCAA Division II.
Gianna Sturdivant was third in the 400 in a time of 59.24. SHU went 3-4-5 in the 1500 with
Anessa Pigula third (5:14.60),
Jada Freeman fourth (5:16.80) and
Marissa Manko fifth (5:25.60).
Layla Robertson was third in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:03.46.
In the field,
Koschinya Jefferson was 3rd in the discus with a toss of 38.90 meters.
Sarah Gilliam was third in the hammer with a throw of 47.65 meters.
Baine Snyder tied for fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.50 meters. Maddie Roberts was fifth in the javelin with a toss of 24.76 meters.
The men had three new PSAC qualifiers.
Jacy Willis and
Blaise Verrastro in the 100 and
Nick McCarthy in the high jump. Willis ran a 10.69 and Verrastro a 10.80. McCarthy cleared 1.90 meters.
Cody Achilles won the 5K in a time of 15.38.55.
Malwandla Baloyi was first in the high jump by clearing 1.95 meters.
Angelo Allen was second in the hammer with a toss of 53.28 meters.
Cody Scherle was second in the javelin with a throw of 56.22 meters.
Jake Raulli was second in the steeple with a time of 11:23.33. Gage Grassmyer was third in the 400 in a time of 49.92.
SHU will compete in the 2025 PSAC Outdoor Championships next weekend at Slippery Rock.
