Griffins Ready for NCAA Atlantic Regional #1

After advancing to the Atlantic Super Regional the last two seasons, the Griffins return to NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional play when Atlantic Regional #1 begins on Thursday.  The Griffins will take part in the NCAA Atlantic Regional #1 at Cooper Park in Millersville, PA as the number five seed.  Seton Hill will open up play on Thursday morning at 11 AM when they meet the fourth seed in the regional California (PA).  Top seed Millersville will host the tournament.  The loser of the CalU/SHU matchup will play Millersville at 2 PM on Thursday afternoon.  

The Griffins were 2-3 vs CalU this season and 0-1 against Millersville.  

This is the 14th trip to the NCAA Atlantic Regional for the Griffins.  Seton Hill is 27-20 all time in NCAA Atlantic Regional play.  Seton Hill and Millersville have met 13 times in the NCAA Tournament with the Griffins holding an 8-5 advantage.  SHU is 0-1 against CalU in the NCAA Tournament. 

Millersville University has set up a NCAA Atlantic Regional #1 Championship Webpage with all the info you need for the tournament.   Live stats will be available through the Millersville Sidearm Stats Page.  Live video will also be available through the Millersville Page on the PSAC Digital Network.  Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students and can be purchased here or at the gate.  

The winner of this regional will meet the winner of the other Atlantic Regional featuring West Chester, East Stroudsburg and Frostburg State next week in the NCAA Atlantic Super Regional.  It will be a best of three series with the winner advancing to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship in Cary. 

Owen Henne leads the Griffins with a .367 average.  Owen also leads the team with 45 RBI.  He has 12 doubles, 1 triple, 7 homers and 22 stolen bases on the season.  Brady McGuire is second on the team with a .344 average.  Brady leads the team with 16 doubles and 24 stolen bases.  He has added 3 homers and 24 RBI.  Max Mandler is third on the team with a .339 average.  Max has added 9 doubles, 4 homers and 22 RBI.    Jack Whalen hit .322 for SHU this season.  Jack leads SHU with 52 runs scored and 6 triples.  He has added 6 doubles, 5 homers and 28 RBI.  Colin Ahr is hitting .305 for the Griffins with 10 doubles, 4 homers and 34 RBI.  Jakob Haynes hit .295 with a team leading 12 homers.  He added 10 doubles and 39 RBI.  Mark Black finished at .264 with 7 doubles, 2 triples, 4 homers and 21 RBI.

Ian Korn is 10-1 on the season with a 1.51 ERA.  In his 12 starts, Korn allowed just 45 hits in 71.1 innings of work.  Ian struck out 72 and opponents hit just .179 off him.  Jon McCullough was 8-3 on the season with a 2.05 ERA.  Jon worked 74.2 innings, allowing 63 hits while striking out 56.  Out of the bullpen, Zach Herb leads the Griffins with seven saves.  He is 3-1 with a 0.61 ERA.  Zach has struck out 31 in 29.2 innings with opponents hitting just .181 off him.
