Softball Eliminated from PSAC Tournament

Seton Hill began play in the PSAC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon in Quakertown, PA.

The Griffins opened the tournament against #19 Kutztown in the first round of the tournament.  SHU dropped a hard fought 2-1 decision to the Golden Bears.  SHU then played an elimination contest against Shippensburg and were eliminated from the tournament with a 13-5 loss.  SHU ends the season with a 29-17 record.

SHU's Shelby Telegdy and KU's Haley Gravish hooked up in a pitchers dual in game one of the day for the Griffins.  Both teams were held off the scoreboard for the first four innings of the contest.

Kutztown used a one out walk and two out RBI double to take a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning.  They added a run in the sixth with a leadoff homer.

SHU threatened in the seventh.  Lacey Lynn and Bre Athey singled to lead off the inning.  After a foul out, Juliette Vybiral reached on an error to score a run and put runners on first and second but the Golden Bears got two strikeouts to end the contest.

Lynn had a pair of hits.  Telegdy struck out three in the loss.

Shippensburg struck first in game two with a two run homer in the bottom of the second inning.  SHU answered those runs in the top of the third on a two run homer from Brooklyn Fukushima.  The Raiders retook the lead with a pair of runs in the third.  The Raiders then added five in the fourth for a 9-2 lead.

Wittig and Grace Paredes singled for the Griffins in the fifth and scored on a Telegdy three run bomb to trim the lead to 9-5.  The Raiders ended the game with four runs in the fifth.

Wittig had a pair of hits.  Fukushima drove in two and Telegdy added three RBIs.
