Seton Hill began play in the PSAC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon in Quakertown, PA.
The Griffins opened the tournament against #19 Kutztown in the first round of the tournament. SHU dropped a hard fought 2-1 decision to the Golden Bears. SHU then played an elimination contest against Shippensburg and were eliminated from the tournament with a 13-5 loss. SHU ends the season with a 29-17 record. Â
SHU's
Shelby Telegdy and KU's Haley Gravish hooked up in a pitchers dual in game one of the day for the Griffins. Both teams were held off the scoreboard for the first four innings of the contest. Â
Kutztown used a one out walk and two out RBI double to take a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning. They added a run in the sixth with a leadoff homer. Â
SHU threatened in the seventh.Â
Lacey Lynn and
Bre Athey singled to lead off the inning. After a foul out,
Juliette Vybiral reached on an error to score a run and put runners on first and second but the Golden Bears got two strikeouts to end the contest. Â
Lynn had a pair of hits. Telegdy struck out three in the loss. Â
Shippensburg struck first in game two with a two run homer in the bottom of the second inning. SHU answered those runs in the top of the third on a two run homer from
Brooklyn Fukushima. The Raiders retook the lead with a pair of runs in the third. The Raiders then added five in the fourth for a 9-2 lead. Â
Wittig and
Grace Paredes singled for the Griffins in the fifth and scored on a Telegdy three run bomb to trim the lead to 9-5. The Raiders ended the game with four runs in the fifth.
Wittig had a pair of hits. Fukushima drove in two and Telegdy added three RBIs.
