Griffins Swept at Gannon

Seton Hill continued PSAC West action with a doubleheader against Gannon on Thursday afternoon in Erie.  

Gannon walked off the Griffins by the score of 6-5 in game one.  The Golden Knights won game two 3-2 to complete the sweep of the Griffins.  SHU is now 15-13 overall and 4-8 in the west.  

Game one was scoreless until the top of the fifth inning.  Juliette Vybiral tripled to lead off the inning.  She scored on a sacrifice fly from Bre AtheyShelby Telegdy homred to left field to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead.  Anna Kalkowski doubled with two outs and scored on a Griffin error as SHU built a 3-0 lead.  

Gannon answered with two runs in their half of the fifth.  SHU got one of those runs back in the sixth on an RBI double from Athey.  The Knights scored a pair in the sixth to tie the score at four.  Abby Dejidas singled with two outs in the seventh to score Brooklyn Fukushima and give the Griffins a 5-4 lead.  Gannon used a triple and two singles to walk off the Griffins in the seventh.

Athey, Kalkowski, Cleland and Vybiral each had two hits for the Griffins.  

Gannon took a 2-0 lead over the Griffins in the bottom of the first inning of game two.  

The Griffins cut the lead in half in the top of the fifth inning.  Athey doubled to lead off the inning.  She scored on a two out double from Fukushima as SHU cut the lead to 2-1.  

Gannon added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning.  The Griffins threatened in the seventh but came up a run short.  Athey drew a one out walk and scored on a pinch hit RBI single from Telegdy.  

Athey had a pair of hits for the Griffins.  

The Griffins are scheduled to travel to Edinboro for a PSAC West doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
