Seton Hill hosted #22 Slippery Rock in a top 25 battle in Greensburg on Wednesday afternoon. The PSAC West battle featured the #14 Griffins and the #22 Rock.
Slippery Rock outscored the Griffins 5-2 in the second quarter to take a lead they would not relinquish in a 16-11 victory over the Griffins. SHU is now 6-4 overall and 3-1 in the west while the Rock is 9-1 overall and 4-0 in the west.
The Griffins scored the first two goals of the contest as they took a 2-0 lead behind goals from
Ella Wroblewski and
Grace Agnello in the first seven minutes of the contest. The Rock answered with a pair to tie the game at two before
Ruby DePalma gave SHU a 3-2 lead with 3:19 left. Slippery Rock scored two goals in the last 1:09 of the quarter as the Rock took a 4-3 lead.
Carleigh Sutfin scored at the 10:33 mark of the second quarter as the Griffins tied the contest at four. Slippery Rock scored three times in a 1:40 span as they built a 7-4 lead with 7:02 to play.
Skylar Orlowski scored with 2:35 left in the half as SHU cut the lead to 7-5 but the Rock again scored twice late in the quarter to build a 9-5 lead.
The Rock scored twice in the first two minutes of the third quarter as they built an 11-5 lead. SHU got two from Orlowski and one from Sutfin as they cut the lead to 11-8 with 2:34 to play. Slippery Rock scored with a minute left as they took a 12-8 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Griffins scored three of the first four goals of the fourth quarter to trim the lead to 13-11 with 5:20 to play. Orlowski,
Sydney Marusko and
Mila Udovicic scored for SHU. The Rock closed out the game scoring the final three goals of the contest.
Orlowski led the Griffins with four goals and an assist. Sutfin scored a pair and Udovicic finished with a goal and three assists.
The Griffins will travel to Gannon on Sunday afternoon.
