Seton Hill continued play in the NCAA Atlantic Regional as they took on second seed Gannon in the semifinals in the McComb Fieldhouse at Edinboro University on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins saw their magical season come to an end as Gannon outscored the Griffins 42-23 over the final fifteen minutes in route to an 80-70 victory over the Griffins. SHU ends the season with a 24-7 record.
Gannon took an 11-6 lead at the five minute mark of the first quarter. A three point play from
Helene Cowan cut the lead to 11-9 with 4:45 left. SHU tied the game at 13 on an
Abby Mankins pull up jumper at the 2:57 mark.
Hallie Cowan's three gave SHU their first lead of the game at 16-15 with 1:15 left in the quarter. The game was tied at 16 at the end of the first quarter.
SHU led 21-18 after a
Mia Kalich layin but Gannon scored the next five to take a 23-18 lead.
Hallie Cowan tied the score at 23 with a basket and a
Helene Cowan free throw gave SHU a 24-23 lead at the second quarter media timeout. The teams exchanged the lead over the next three minutes. Late baskets from Kalich and
Emma Fischer gave SHU a 34-31 lead at the halftime break.
Hallie Cowan extended the lead to 36-31 with a layup to open the second half. Gann cut the lead back to 36-34 but the Griffins went on a quick 6-2 run as they led 42-36 with 6:53 to play.
Hallie Cowan answered a Gannon basket with a three as SHU took a 45-38 lead with 6:05 to play. Ford driving layup extended the lead to nine with 5:25 left. The Golden Knights scored five straight before a three pointer from
Hallie Cowan pushed the lead back to 50-45 with 2:29 to play. Gannon scored the final six points of the third quarter as they took a 51-50 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Gannon pushed their lead to 56-51 with 6:45 to play in the quarter.
Hallie Cowan ended a long scoring drought with a three pointer to cut the lead to 56-54 with 6:20 to play. Gannon built the lead back to 62-56 with 4:57 to play. The Golden Knights hit a three to extend the lead to nine but
Hallie Cowan hit a layup to trim the lead to seven. After a very questionable technical foul on the Griffins, Gannon pushed their lead to 71-62 with 2:39 left. Mankins and
Hallie Cowan hit back to back threes to cut the lead to 74-68 with 1:27 to play. Gannon iced the game away with a three pointer with 20 seconds to play as they took a 79-70 lead.
Hallie Cowan led the Griffins with a game high 29 points.
Helene Cowan added 10 points. Kalich, Haralson and Ford each scored eight points.
