Griffins Sweep Point Park

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Seton Hill continued non conference play with a doubleheader against Point Park on Friday afternoon in Greensburg.

The Griffins swept the doubleheader from Point Park, taking game one 6-1 and then scoring four runs in the seventh for a 9-8 win in game two.  SHU is now 6-2 on the season. 

SHU took the lead in game one in the second inning.  Brooke Cleland singled to lead off the inning.  Abby Smearman singled in a run and Bre Athey made it 4-0 with a three run homer.  

Shelby Telegdy, Kelleigh Pollock and Brooklyn Fukushima each singled to score a run in the third.  Telegdy homered to lead off the bottom of the fifth.  

Kassidy Wittig, Telegdy, Fukushima and Cleland each with two hits in game one.  Bre Athey added a three run homer.  Telegdy also homered.  She allowed just 3 hits to earn the win.

Point Park scored the first six runs of game two and led 6-0 after two and a half innings.  

SHU scored in the bottom of the third inning.  Athey singled and Kassidy Wittig doubled to put runners on first and third.  Athey scored on a Grace Paredes sacrifice fly.  Point Park added two more runs in the fourth and led 8-1.  

The Griffins scored four times in the fourth inning.  Anna Kalkowski doubled and scored on a Juliette Vybiral RBI single.  Abby Smearman homered to cut the lead to 8-4.  Abby Dejidas singled and later scored on a Wittig RBI single to cut the lead to 8-5.  

SHU then walked it off in the seventh.  Athey singled and Wittig walked.  Cleland singled to score a run.  Telegdy doubled in a run to cut the score to 8-7.  Kalkowski then walked it off with a two RBI single.  

Wittig, Kalkowski and Athey each had two hits in game two.  Kalkowski and Smearman each drove in two.  Briahna McCombs earned the win with 6 innings of relief.

SHU will host Fairmont State on Tuesday afternoon.
