The Griffin track and field teams competed in the Youngstown State Mid Major on Friday and Saturday in the WATTS Building on the campus of Youngstown State.

The teams combined for fourteen top ten finishes.  The men's team had nine while the women's program added five.

Leading the way for the men's team were Angelo Allen and Malwandla Baloyi.  Allen set a new school record with a first place finish in the weight throw.  His toss of 17.20 meters set the new record.  He was also fourth in the shot put with a toss of 15.79 meters.  Baloyi was first overall in the heptathlon with 4,604 points.  He was first in the high jump and 60 hurdles.  

Jacy Willis was second in the 400 in a time of 48.88.  Blaise Verrastro was fifth in the event in a time of 49.47.  Andrew Campbell was third in the 60 meter dash in a time of 6.93.  Ben Kissell was sixth in the pole vault, clearing 4.35 meters.  Kaden Crump was ninth in the 800 with a time of 2:00.40.  Barry Ozimek was ninth in the heptathlon with a total of 3,550 points.  

Kate Pipilo had a pair of top six finishes.  She was fifth in the 800 in a time of 2:22.35.  Kate was sixth in the mile in a time of 5:13.54.  

Nemani Moon finished second in the 400 in a time of 58.04.  Sarah Gilliam was eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.82 meters.  Baine Snyder was tenth in the high jump, clearing 1.49 meters.

SHU will compete in the Bob Shannon Invitational at Dennison next weekend.
