The Griffins continued their opening weekend of PSAC West play with a matchup in Clarion on Saturday afternoon.
Clarion took the first two sets and then won the fourth set as they defeated the Griffins 3-1. SHU is now 8-6 overall and 0-2 in the west. Clarion is 8-8 overall and 2-1 in the west.
The Golden Eagles took the first set over the Griffins by the score of 25-15. Clarion took a 2-0 lead with a 25-19 second set win. SHU won the third set 25-19 to stay in the match. The Golden Eagles ended the match with a 25-20 fourth set win.
Elysia Smith led the Griffins with 8 kills.
Catie Flohr and
Ella Deeter each added 7 kills.
Mallory Meinen ran the offense with 24 assists.
Emma Meurer had six blocks to lead SHU.
Kendyl Wagner had 19 digs to lead SHU. Deeter finished with 11 digs.
SHU will travel to IUP next Friday as they continue PSAC West play.
