Seton Hill began a six game homestand with a PSAC West matchup with Clarion on Friday evening in Greensburg.
The Griffins swept the match from the Golden Eagles as they won their third straight match. SHU is now 12-9 overall and 4-5 in the west. Clarion falls to 10-13 overall and 4-5 in the west. Â
The early portion of the first set was tightly played but Clarion used a couple small runs to build a 13-8 lead. SHU then went on an 11-3 run as they took a 19-16 lead. A kill and ace from
Maddie Stout gave SHU a 21-18 lead.Â
Ella Deeter got the Griffins to set point with a kill and
Catie Flohr ended the set with a kill as SHU took a 1-0 lead with a 25-23 first set win. Â
Clarion used a 5-0 run to take a 10-8 lead over the Griffins in the second set. SHU responded with a 5-0 run to take a 16-13 lead. The Griffins then went on another 5-0 run, the last two points coming on blocks from Deeter and Flohr as SHU led 21-14. Stout had two kills late and
Elizabeth Kolkowski gave SHU a 2-0 lead with a kill as the Griffins won the second set 25-20. Â
The Griffins built an early 8-2 lead in the third set and led throughout as they closed out the match with a 25-22 third set win. Â
SHU hit .212 in the match while holding Clarion under a .100 hitting percentage. SHU finished with eight blocks in the match. Â
Flohr led SHU with 13 kills. Stout had nine while
Payton Rodberg added eight. Deeter finished with seven.Â
Mallory Meinen paced the offense with 24 assists. Flohr had five blocks while Deeter added four.Â
Kendyl Wagner led SHU with 11 digs. Â
The Griffins continue PSAC West play on Saturday afternoon as they host Slippery Rock. Â
