Box Score Seton Hill returned to action on Saturday afternoon after a week off as they continued PSAC West play on the road at Indiana (PA).
Seton Hill used an all around gutsy team effort as they earned a 67-60 PSAC West victory over the Crimson Hawks at the KCAC. SHU improved to 16-1 overall and 10-0 in the PSAC with the win. IUP falls to 13-3 overall and 8-2 in the PSAC.
The Griffins got off to a slow start from the field, hitting just one of their first twelve field goal attempts as the Crimson Hawks took a 10-2 lead over the Griffins midway through the first quarter. Back to back layups from
Corinne Eisner and
Shaye Bailey cut the lead to 10-6 with 3:19 left in the quarter. IUP then outscored the Griffins 7-2 over the final three minutes to take an 17-8 lead over the Griffins.
A three from
Helene Cowan and a driving layup from
Hallie Cowan cut the lead to 17-13 with 8:48 left in the second quarter. Four more points from the Cowan twins tied the game at 17 with 7:35 to play. IUP led the Griffins 21-19 at the media timeout. A three pointer from
Helene Cowan and two free throws from
Hailee Ford gave SHU a five point play and the lead at 24-23 with 2:55 left in the half. Back to back layups from Hallie and
Helene Cowan extended the lead to 28-23 with 1:42 left. Seton Hill led IUP 28-25 at the half.
Six straight points from the Crimson Hawks gave IUP a 33-30 lead with 7:04 left in the third quarter.
Abby Mankins put the Griffins back in front, 34-33, with a three pointer with 6:05 left in the quarter. The teams exchanged leads throughout the rest of the quarter.
Helene Cowan hit a three with 1:07 left to give SHU a 49-47 lead but the Crimson Hawks scored the final basket of the quarter to tie the game at 49 heading to the fourth.

Mia Kalich gave SHU a 53-50 lead with 6:48 to play in the quarter.
Hallie Cowan extended the lead to 58-54 with a three pointer with 3:43 to play. A layup from Kalich pushed the lead to six with three minutes left. A layup from Mankins extended the lead to six at 62-56 with 1:55 to play. Ford hit a free throw to push the lead to 63-56 with 1:33 left. The Griffins closed out the game from the free throw line.
Helene Cowan led four Griffins in double figures with 19 points.
Hallie Cowan tossed in 17 points. Ford finished with 11 points and Kalich had another double double of 11 points and 19 rebounds.
SHU returns to action at home when they host Edinboro in a PSAC West matchup on Wednesday evening.
