The Griffin women's soccer team opened their 2024 season with a home non conference matchup with West Liberty on Thursday afternoon in Greensburg.
SHU scored a first half goal and made it stand up in the season opening 1-0 win over the Hilltoppers.
With just under eight minutes to play in the first half,

Jessica Molitoris near the top of the box and Molitoris took a touch to get by the defender and placed a perfect shot in the far right hand side of the net to give SHU a 1-0 lead.
SHU held an 8-5 lead in shots in the first and a 3-1 advantage in corners.
The Griffins continued to outshoot the Hilltoppers in the second half and were able to keep them off the scoreboard for the 1-0 win.
SHU finished with a 17-10 advantage in shots and a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Sydney Caldwell made four saves in net for the shutout win.
Mia Lindborg led the Griffins with three shots on goal.
SHU will host Lock Haven on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM.
