Box Score The Griffins made the long trip to Bloomsburg for a PSAC Crossover battle on Saturday afternoon.
Seton Hill scored the final twelve points of the contest including the final six with nine seconds to play as they rallied for a 15-14 victory over the Huskies. SHU is now 1-2 on the season. Â
Seton Hill scored the only points of the first quarter on a 25 yard field goal from
Ben Zavatchan with 1:41 to play in the quarter.Â
Jake Cruz connected with
Cody Rubrecht on a 54 yard catch and run on the drive to set up the field goal. Â
Bloomsburg took the lead with just over five minutes to play in the second quarter. They drove 80 yards in just seven plays to take a 7-3 lead over the Griffins. Bloomsburg took a 7-3 lead into the halftime break. Â
Midway through the third quarter, the Huskies missed a 41 yard field goal to keep the game at 7-3. The Griffins played takeaway on a
David Awuah interception that set up the offense at the Huskies 45 yard line. The Griffins drove to the Bloomsburg 14 yard line but a sack and then a missed field goal kept the Griffins off the scoreboard near the end of the third quarter. The Huskies took advantage of the missed field goal and scored on a 73 yard touchdown run with 48 seconds to play in the quarter as they extended their lead to 14-3. Â
Ky'Ron Craggette scored from a yard out with 10:21 to play in the fourth quarter as they Griffins cut the lead to 14-9 after a missed two point conversion attempt. The big play on the drive was a 47 yard pass from Cruz to
Todd Phillips on a third down play. SHU took over at their own 38 yard line after a punt with 2:38 to play in the contest. SHU used a 15 play drive to score the winning touchdown. The game winning play was a 14 yard touchdown pass from Cruz to Phillips on a 4th and 4 play with nine seconds remaining. Â
Cruz threw for 201 yards and a touchdown. Phillips caught two passes for 61 yards and a TD. Rubrecht added three catches for 65 yards. Craggette ran for 127 yards and a TD.Â
Ritchie McCormack led the defense with 10 tackles including two sacks.Â
David Awuah added nine tackles and an interception. Â
SHU will host West Chester next weekend in another PSAC Crossover matchup. Â
