The Griffin track and field teams competed in the Bob Lewis Classic on Friday afternoon at Frostburg State University.
Both track teams finished second in the event. The women's team finished with 210.5 points and the men's team recorded 174 points. Â
The women's team finished with nine first place finishes and 25 top fives. The men's team had seven first place finishes and 19 top fives.
On the women's side both
Koschinya Jefferson and
Natasha Bernett had two first place finishes. Jefferson was first in the 100 (12.34) and 200 (25.54). Bernett was first in the 100 hurdles (14.09) and javelin (39.63m). Jefferson was second in the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.22 seconds and Bernett was second in the long jump with a leap of 5.33 meters. Â
Other first place finishes on the women's side included
Madelyn Fike in the 400 (1:01.15).Â
Haley Brenny was first in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:08.07.Â
Kate Pipilo was first in the 800 in a time of 2:27.20.Â
Isabella Myles was first in the 3K in a time of 10:58.19.Â
Sarah Gilliam won the hammer with a throw of 43.76 meters. Gilliam was also third in the shot put with a toss of 10.65 meters. Â
Layla Robertson was second in the 400 hurdles (1:08.90) and third in the 100 hurdles (15.58).Â
Keelin Becker was second in the triple jump (11.11m), fourth in the 100 hurdles (16.57) and fifth in the 400 hurdles (1:10.48).Â
Marissa Manko was second in the 5K in a time of 21:30.26. Â
Carly Yanek placed third in the 400 hurdles (1:09.59).Â
Allison O'Brien was third in the 800 in a time of 2:39.71.Â
Jordan Fairman was fourth in the 800 in a time of 2:39.99 while
Alyssa Scalia was fourth in the javelin (27.80m).Â
Anna Roberts was fourth in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:10.05.Â
Jada Freeman was fifth in the 800 (2:40.46) and
Martina Swalligan was fifth in the hammer (34.42m).
Angelo Allen led the men's team with two first place finishes. He was first in the discus (42.84m) and shot put (14.57m). Allen was also second in the hammer (42.23m). Â
Other first place finishes included
Blaise Verrastro in the 200 in a time of 22.25. Ethan Barrick was first in the 3K (9:45.40).Â
Malwandla Baloyi was first in the high jump clearing 1.85 meters.Â
Cody Scherle was first in the javelin with a toss of 50.91 meters.Â
John Giansante was first in the triple jump with a leap of 13.86 meters. Verrastro was also second in the 400 (51.47). Giansante was second in the long jump with a leap of 6.36 meters. Â
Ben Kissell was second in the pole vault clearing 4.40 meters.Â
Ben Hartman was second in the 110 hurdles in a time of 15.58 while
Tony Sacco was fourth (16.38).Â
Kaden Crump was second in the 800 in a time of 2:00.11.Â
Andrew Campbell was second in the 200 in a time of 22.31. Â
Jacy Willis was third in the 400 (53.49) and fifth in the 200 (23.24).Â
Jaden Lopez placed fifth in the hammer (39.67m) and
Bohdan Meyer was fourth in the javelin (41.30m). Â
The teams will compete at Westminster next weekend.Â
