After earning their seventh straight trip to the PSAC Tournament, the Griffin softball program earned honors from the PSAC on their All PSAC West Teams. The awards were released by the league on Tuesday afternoon and are nominated and voted on by the head coaches in the league.
Highlighting the awards were one of the four major award winners. Redshirt freshman outfielder
Kassidy Wittig was named the PSAC West Freshman of the Year.
Eight members of the team earned All PSAC West honors with four first team all conference selections and four second team selections.
Wittig was a first team selection as an outfielder. She was joined in the first team outfield by sophomore
Camryn Murphy. Senior catcher
Mackenzie Zang and senior pitcher
Logan Hartman were both named first team selections.
Three fourths of the Griffin infield earned second team honors. Junior second baseman
Brooklyn Fukushima, senior shortstop
Nina Grandey and junior third baseman
Grace Paredes all earned second team honors. Senior
Lauren Dellett was also named to the second team as a pitcher.
Dellett is now a three time All PSAC West selection. Zang, Hartman, Grandey and Paredes each earn their second All PSAC West award. Wittig, Murphy and Fukushima all pick up their first All Conference honors.
Wittig leads the Griffins with a .449 average. She has 12 doubles, 2 triples, one homer and 26 RBIs. Murphy leads the Griffins with 14 homers and 62 RBIs. Camryn hit .420 during the regular season. She tied for the team lead with 68 hits and 3 triples. Zang finished the season with a .276 average. Mackenzie added six doubles, two triples, six homers and 27 RBIs. Hartman leads the pitching staff with a 20-5 record and a 3.08 ERA. Hartman has 18 complete games and five shutouts. She has struck out 105 in 145 innings.
Fukushima is hitting .368 with seven doubles, four homers and 31 RBIs. Grandey was just under .400 with a .398 average. Nina led the Griffins with 65 runs scored and 37 stolen bases. She added 10 doubles, three triples, six homers and 33 RBI. Paredes hit .373 on the season with six doubles, 1 triple, 13 homers and 54 RBIs. Dellett is 15-10 on the season with a 3.59 ERA. Lauren has 183 strikeouts in 150 innings.
Seton Hill will begin play in the PSAC Tournament in Quakertown beginning on Wednesday afternoon.
