The Griffin track and field teams competed at the Westminster College Invitational on Saturday afternoon in New Wilmington, PA.
Each team produced thirteen top eight finishes on the day. Â
On the men's side, four Griffins had a pair of top eight finishes. They included
John Giansante,
Angelo Allen,
Blaise Verrastro and
Jacy Willis. Giansante was second in both the long jump and triple jump. John hit 6.87 meters in the long jump and 13.92 meters in the triple jump. Allen was third in the shot put and fourth in the discus. Angelo threw 15.12 meters in the shot put and 45.34 meters in the discus. Verrastro was third in both the 200 and 400. Blaise ran 22.27 in the 200 and 51.35 in the 400. Willis was fourth in both the 200 and 400. Jacy ran 22.49 in the 200 and 51.58 in the 400. Â
Other top eights for the Griffins included
Cody Scherle in the javelin (52.28m),
Ben Kissell in the pole vault (4.32m),
Kaden Crump in the 800 (2:00.36) and
Jaden Lopez in the hammer (43.31m). Â
Four women also had two top eight finishes. They included
Kate Pipilo,
Layla Robertson,
Keelin Becker and
Ayiana Martin. Pipilo was third in the 800 and fourth in the 1500. Kate ran 2:28.17 in the 800 and 4:55.05 in the 1500. Robertson was third in the 400 hurdles and fourth in the 100 hurdles. Layla ran 15.24 seconds in the 100 hurdles and 1:06.28 in the 400 hurdles. Becker was fourth in the 400 hurdles and eighth in the 100 hurdles. Keelin ran 1:07.11 in the 400 and 15.97 in the 100. Martin was sixth in the 100 and eighth in the 200. Ayiana ran 12.76 seconds in the 100 and 26.69 seconds in the 200. Â
Other top eights for the Griffins included
Isabella Myles in the 1500 (4:56.85).Â
Anna Roberts was seventh in the 100 (12.76).Â
Jordan Fairman was eighth in the 800 (2:30.02).Â
Haley Brenny was seventh in the 400 hurdles (1:07.83) and
Sarah Gilliam was fourth in the hammer (42.69m).
SHU will run on Thursday in the John Papa Invitational on Thursday at Slippery Rock.
