Seton Hill made the short trip to Califrnia, PA for a PSAC First Round matchup with the Vulcans on Monday evening.
The Griffins rallied from 26 down to tie the score but in the end came up just short as their season ended with a 70-65 loss to the Vulcans.
The Griffins led 9-8 at the midway portion of the first quarter on a three from
Hallie Cowan. Cal ended the quarter with an 8-2 run to take a 24-17 lead after one.
The Vulcans then outscored the Griffins 21-6 in the second quarter as they took a 45-23 halftime lead.
CalU scored the first four points of the third quarter as they took a 49-23 lead with 9:20 to play in the quarter. The Griffins would then go on a 42-16 run as they came back to tie the game at 65. Another
Hallie Cowan three cut the lead to 51-32 with 7:04 to play. Cal went back up 55-32 with 6:06 to play. SHU then went on a 10-0 run as they cut the lead to 55-42 with 3:47 to play. The Griffins trailed 60-48 after three quarters.
A three pointer from
Helene Cowan cut the lead to single digits at 61-54 with 7:48 to play. Six points in less than a minute from the Griffins cut the Vulcans lead to 63-60 with 6:13 to play. Three free throws and a jumper from
Helene Cowan tied the score at 65 with 2:20 to play. Cal scored the final five points to earn the win.
Christiane Frye led the Griffins with 20 points.

Hallie Cowan tossed in 13.
