Seton Hill kicked off PSAC West play with a doubleheader in Greensburg against Mercyhurst.

The Mandler brothers led the Griffins to a 2-1, 8 inning win in game one as Owen knocked in Max twice, including the walk off winner in the eighth. Mercyhurst responded with a 7-1 victory in game two to split the doubleheader. SHU is now 13-6 overall and 1-1 in the west while the Lakers are now 3-9 overall and 1-1. Â

The Lakers broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the fourth inning. They used a leadoff double, walk and hit batter to load the bases with no one out. After a fly out, they used an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. SHU was able to get out of the inning with a 6-4-3 double play.Â

The Griffins got that run right back in their half of the fourth inning.Â
Max Mandler drew a leadoff walk. He stole second and later stole third. With two outs,
Owen Mandler doubled on a 2-2 pitch to score Max and tie the game at one.Â

Seton Hill won the game in the eighth.Â
Max Mandler led off with a single. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Owen Sabol. Mandler stole third and pinch hitter
Owen Henne walked.Â
Owen Mandler then singled thru the left side on an 0-1 pitch to score Max and give the Griffins a 2-1 win.

Owen Mandler went 3-4 and drove in two runs.Â
Max Mandler was 2-2 with two runs scored.Â
Brandon Bergert went six innings, giving up one run on two hits and striking out four.Â
Michael Marinchak threw two scoreless to earn the win.

In game two, the Lakers took advantage of a leadoff hit batter and a two out single to take a 1-0 lead over the Griffins.Â

The Lakers took advantage of an error and scored three unearned runs in fourth as they increased their lead to 4-0. Mercyhurst added two more in the fifth as they built their lead to 6-0.Â

Owen Mandler hit the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the seventh inning over the left center field wall to cut the lead to 7-1.Â

The Griffins will continue PSAC West play on Sunday when they conclude the four game set with Mercyhurst.  Â
