Eight members of the Seton Hill wrestling program took part in the 2024 NCAA Division II Super Regional at Kutztown on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins had two members book trips to nationals with
Kane Kettering winning the 174 pound weight class and
William Burgess won the third place match at 125 pounds. Â
Kettering won his first match by fall (1:30) to advance to the quarterfinals. He picked up an 8-2 decision to advance to the semifinals. In the semi's Kettering pinned Mercyhurst's Chase Stein at the 5:45 mark. Kettering then picked up a medical forfeit to earn the regional title.
Burgess won 13-3 to advance to the semifinals. Burgess dropped a decision by fall in the semifinals. Burgess picked up a major decision (13-3) in the consolation semis. Burgess then defeated Millersville's Bryce Beatty for the second time and advance to nationals with a 13-3 win in the third place match. Â
Niko Ferra went 2-3 on the day for a sixth place finish at 149 pounds.Â
Kyle Burkholder (133),
Christian Hirak (157), Colin Hearn (165) and
Brendan Finnerty each went 1-2 on the day.
Both Kettering and Burgess advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament in Park City, Kansas on March 15 and 16.
