The Griffin track and field teams began their 2024 outdoor season at the Towson Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Towson, MD.
The men's team opened the outdoor season with 15 top eight finishes. The women's team added nine top eight finishes.
Leading the way on the men's side was
Angelo Allen who had three top eight finishes. He was third in the hammer (46.42m) fourth in the discus (43.17m) and fourth in the shot put (14.38m).
Jacy Willis,
Andrew Campbell and
Blaise Verrastro each had two top eight finishes. Willis won the 400 (49.68) and was sixth in the 200 (22.16). Campbell was fourth in the 100 (10.88) and seventh in the 200 (22.19).
Blaise Verrastro was fourth in the 400 (50.56) and eighth in the 200 (22.41).
John Giansante was second in the long jump (6.41m).
Cody Scherle was third in the javelin (52.96m).
Tony Sacco was fourth in the 110 hurdles (16.19).
Kaden Crump was fourth in the 800 (1:59.14).
Theologos Petridis was eighth in the long jump (5.88m) and
Dwight Sarver was eighth in the discus (41.99m).
Sarah Gilliam led the women with two top eight finishes. She was third in the discus (35.46m) and fifth in the hammer (43.16m).
Isabelle McCabe was second in the 10K with a time of 42:12.85.
Isabella Myles was third in the 5K with a time of 18:27.69.
Natasha Bernett was fifth in the 800 (2:24.94).
Kate Pipilo was sixth in the 1500 (5:00.25).
Keelin Becker was eighth in the long jump (4.99m).
Anna Roberts was eighth in the 100 in a time of 12.69.
Haley Brenny was eighth in the 400 with a time of 1:00.22.
The teams will run at the Amy Adams Memorial next weekend.
