Seton Hill closed out their regular season with a pair of dual matches on Sunday afternoon in East Stroudsburg, PA.
SHU opened the day with a PSAC Dual against East Stroudsburg and closed out their regular season with a matchup with Sussex CCC in the finale. Â
East Stroudsburg defeated the Griffins by a 32-21 score. SHU defeated Sussex 37-16 in the night cap.
The Griffins got off to a quick start against ESU.Â
William Burgess won by a 15-3 score to give SHU a 4-0 lead after the 125 pound match.Â
Kyle Burkholder then won by fall (1:53) as the Griffins led 10-0.Â
Jacob Gardner won 15-0 to put the Griffins in front 15-0. Â
The Warriors won the next five matches to take a 26-15 lead over the Griffins.Â
Brendan Finnerty won by fall (5:47) to trim the lead to 26-21. Â
SHU won the first four matches to build a 19-0 lead over Sussex. Burgess and Burkholder each won by major decision. Burgess won 11-0 and Burkholder won 9-0. Niko Ferra won by tech fall (23-7) at 141 pounds.Â
Nolan Daerr won by forfeit as SHU led 19-0.Â
Trevor Swartz won by forfeit and Finnerty won by medical forfeit.Â
Ethan Cain won by fall (2:31).
SHU will prepare for the NCAA Regionals the first weekend in March.Â
