The Griffin track and field teams began their 2024-25 indoor season at the Youngstown State Icebreaker at the WATTS on the campus of YSU on Friday.  

The teams combined for a total of 16 top ten finishes.  The women's team finished with nine while the men's team added seven.  

Leading the way on the women's side was a third place finish from the 4x4 relay.  The team of Nemani Moon, Haley Brenny, Carly Yanek and Layla Robertson finished in a time of 3:57.40.  Brenny was sixth in the 400 in a time of 57.79 and Moon was 7th in the 400 in a time of 58.10.  

Both Koschinya Jefferson and Sarah Gilliam had a pair of top ten finishes.  Jefferson was 7th in the 60 hurdles in a time of 9.07 and ninth in the Elite Shot Put (11.58m).  Gilliam was sixth in both the elite weight throw (14.44m) and shot put (10.73m).  

Martina Swalligan was seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 11.83m.  Rebekah Daniszewski was ninth in the elite weight throw with a toss of 13.80m.  

The men's 4x4 relay team of Jacy Willis, Devin Underwood, Roman Brenny and Blaise Verrastro were sixth in the event in a time of 3:27.96.  Willis was also fourth in the 400 in a time of 48.58.  

John Giansante had a pair of top tens.  He was fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.25m and ninth in the long jump with a leap of 6.80m.  

Cody Achilles was sixth in the 3K in a time of 9:11.11.  Andrew Campbell was seventh in the 60 in a time of 6.90 and Dwight Sarver was ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 12.58m.  

The teams will return to action on January 18th at Kent State.
