For the fourth straight season, the Griffin baseball team has been selected as the preseason favorites in the PSAC West according to the PSAC Baseball Coaches Preseason Poll. The poll was released by the league office on Thursday afternoon and was voted on by the head baseball coaches in the league.
The Griffins earned seven of the eight first place votes to top the poll. Mercyhurst was second in the poll and earned the other first place vote. Indiana (PA) was third and CalU was fourth. Gannon rounded out the top five. Slipperry Rock, Pitt Johnstown and Clarion closed out the bottom three.
Millersville picked up seven of the nine first place votes and was named the preseason favorite in the east. West Chester and East Stroudsburg each earned a first place vote and were second and third. Shippensburg and Kutztown rounded out the top five. Bloomsburg, Shepherd, Mansfield, Lock Haven rounded out the poll.
Seton Hill will open the 2024 season with a three game set in Florence, SC against Francis Marion on February 17 and 18. SHU will then host Walsh the following weekend for a three game set. Seton Hill will travel to Florida for their spring trip from March 2nd - 9th. PSAC West play begins the weekend of March 22-23 with a four game set with Mercyhurst. SHU closes out PSAC West play against Gannon the weekend of May 2 and 3. The PSAC Tournament will be played in Slippery Rock with the NCAA Atlantic Regionals and Super Regionals to follow in mid to late May. The 2024 NCAA Baseball Championships will be in Cary, NC from June 1st - 8th.
