Seton Hill head women's lacrosse coach
Courtney Grove has stepped down from the position, Seton Hill athletic director Chris Snyder announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Grove spent fourteen seasons as head coach of the Griffins over two different spans. Grove began her coaching career with the Griffins in 2008 and coached for four seasons and returned to lead the Griffins in 2014 after a short stint as an assistant coach at Division I Marquette. Courtney will make the move to Division I Robert Morris to lead their women's lacrosse program.
Grove stated, "Seton Hill will always have a special place in my heart. I started here, I've grown here, and I've become the coach I am today because of the leadership at the school, my colleagues and all of the support around me. I thank you all and I couldn't have done it without you." "To all of the players, past and present, thank you for making my family yours. Words can't explain the love and gratitude I have for each and every one of you. Thank you for always giving it your very best. We've shared so many valuable lessons together and I hope that I've impacted your lives both on and off the field the way you have done mine!"
This past season, the Griffins finished with a 15-5 record and won their third straight PSAC Western Division title. Seton Hill played in their second PSAC Championship contest and earned their fourth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Over her fourteen year career at Seton Hill, Grove won 132 contests, including a 42-13 mark over the final three seasons. She coached 46 all conference selections, 19 All Region selection and seven All Americans. Courtney also earned four Coach of the Year honors from the PSAC. Courtney was named the Westmoreland County YWCA Coach of the Year in 2015.
Grove's teams also excelled off the field as well as the team earned multiple IWLCA All Academic Team honors and had multiple players named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.
Snyder added, "It is a bittersweet day on the Hill as Coach
Courtney Grove has accepted the head coaching position at Robert Morris. Courtney developed a first class women's lacrosse program at SHU and I wish only the best for her and her family moving forward."
