A Program Record Seven Named to ABCA/Rawlings All Region Teams

Seton Hill continues to add awards for their players performance during the 2023 season as a program record seven Griffins earned All Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) on Wednesday afternoon.  

Three Griffins earned first team honors while four student athletes picked up second team honors.  

Senior Jack Oberdorf was a first team selection at third base on the ABCA/Rawlings All Atlantic Region Team.  Sophomore Blake Barker was a first team reliever and senior Braden Durham was a first team selection at DH.  Senior Vincenzo Rauso earned second team honors at catcher.  Freshman Jack Whalen was a second team selection in the outfield.  Senior Kevin Vaupel and junior Brandon Bergert were second team selections at starting pitcher.  

It is the second straight season that Oberdorf has earned ABCA/Rawlings All Region honors.  Six of the seven were NCBWA All Region selections this season while five of the seven earned D2CCA All Region honors.  All seven of the Griffins picked up All PSAC West honors this season.  

Oberdorf hit .343 for the Griffins while leading the team with 15 homers and 57 RBI.  Jack added 14 doubles and three triples.  Barker was spectacular as the Griffins closer.  He had a 4-1 record and four saves with a 2.00 ERA.  He had 34 strikeouts in 27 innings with opponents hitting just .186 off of him.  Durham finished with a .315 batting average.  He added 11 doubles, three triples, eight homers and 42 RBI.

Rauso led the Griffins with a .413 batting average.  Vinny also led the Griffins with 85 hits and 44 walks drawn.  He was also is 30-38 in stolen bases.  Whalen had a .332 average.  He led the Griffins with 64 runs scored and 52 stolen bases.  Jack added 13 doubles, two triples, homer and 23 RBI.  Bergert was 8-2 with a 3.07 ERA.  He struck out 89 in 73.1 innings with opponents hitting just .224 off him.  Vaupel went 6-1 with a 2.04 ERA.  He struck out 68 in 53 innings.

Millersville's Bren Taylor was named the regional player of the year while Mercyhurst's Jarrett Heilman was named the Pitcher of the Year.
