Two PSAC West foes met in the NCAA Atlantic Regional on Friday afternoon in Greensburg with a spot in the Regional Final on the line.  

Mercyhurst used a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to stun the Griffins and send SHU to an elimination game with an 8-6 loss.  SHU falls to 45-11 on the season while Mercyhurst improved to 30-15 on the season.  

The Griffins wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as they scored two times in the top of the first inning.  Jack Whalen drew a leadoff walk and stole second.  Whalen moved to third on a fly out.  Whalen scored when Jack Oberdorf reached on an error.  After a groundout, Owen Sabol singled to score Oberdorf and give the Griffins a 2-0 lead.  

Mercyhurst responded with three runs in their half of the second.  They used back to back doubles and a homer to center field to take a 3-2 lead.  

Seton Hill retook the lead in the fourth.  Max Mandler singled to start the inning and scored when Braden Durham homered over the left field wall to put the Griffins in front 4-3.  After an out, Noah Sweeney singled and stole second.  He scored on an RBI single from Whalen as the Griffins took a 5-3 lead.  

The Lakers got one of those runs back in the bottom half of the inning when they used three straight singles to score a run.  

Mercyhurst threatened in the fifth but reliever Caiden Wood got a double play with runners on first and third to end the inning.  The Lakers again threatened in the sixth as they had runners on second and third with no outs but Wood got a pop out, strike out and ground out to end the inning.  Wood got a strikeout with a runner at third to end the seventh.  

Seton Hill added their final run in the ninth.  Sweeney drew a lead off walk.  He moved to second on a wild pitch and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from Whalen.  Vincenzo Rauso followed with a double to the right center field gap to extend the Griffins lead to two.  

The Lakers scored four times in the ninth to walk off the Griffins.  They used a single, hit batter and error on a bunt to load the bases, setting the table for the walk off grand slam.

Sabol, Mandler and Durham each had two hits to lead the Griffins.  Durham drove in two.  Wood worked 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.  He struck out two while allowing just three hits.  

The Griffins will meet East Stroudsburg in an elimination game on Saturday with the winner meeting Mercyhurst for the Regional Title.  The game is scheduled for an 11 AM start but could be moved back with the impending weather forecast.
