The Griffin softball program swept through PSAC West play last week and as a result has swept the two weekly awards from the PSAC. Freshman outfielder
Camryn Murphy was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week and junior starter
Lauren Dellett earned the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week Award. The league announced the awards on Monday afternoon.
It is the fifth pitcher of the week award for Dellett and third this season. Its the first weekly award for Murphy,
The two earned the award as the Griffins went 6-0 last week in PSAC West play to take control of the top spot in the standings.
Murphy hit .500 (8-16) with a double, four homers and 11 RBI. She also scored 5 runs. Murphy had a .571 OBP and a 1.313 slugging percentage. Camryn went 4-6 with three homers and six RBI in the doubleheader sweep of Gannon. She also drove in three in the win at Mercyhurst.
Dellett carried the Griffin pitching staff as SHU went 6-0 in PSAC West play. Lauren was 4-0 with 1 save on the week with a 1.42 ERA. Dellett worked 25.1 innings, giving up just 4 earned runs on 20 hits while striking out 30. Lauren struck out a career high 15 in the win over Gannon.
SHU is scheduled to travel to Pitt Johnstown on Tuesday afternoon for another PSAC West contest.
