After completing a sweep of Clarion in PSAC West play this weekend, the Griffin baseball program was honored by the PSAC with their weekly baseball awards. Senior catcher
Vincenzo Rauso was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week and junior starter
Jon McCullough was named the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week. The league announced the awards on Monday afternoon. It is the first weekly PSAC Award for each student athlete.
Rauso led the Griffin offense to a 4-1 week by hitting .588 (10-17). Vinny scored 9 runs while adding a double and 5 RBI. Rauso finished the week with a .696 OBP and stole 6 of 7 bases. He went 5-6 with 3 RBI in the doubleheader sweep at Clarion.
McCullough threw a complete game in the Griffins win over Clarion. In 7 innings, he allowed just 5 hits and 0 earned runs while striking out 6 and walking none.
The Griffins will host Frostburg State on Tuesday before starting a four game PSAC West series with Slippery Rock on Friday in Greensburg.
