The Griffin track and field teams returned to the track after the Easter break at the Thiel Tomcat Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Greenville, PA.
The men's team had five first place finishes and 19 top eight finishes on the day. The women's team had one first place finish, three second place finishes and 18 top eight finishes. Â
Leading the way on the men's side was
Hunter Martin who had two first place finishes. He was first in the long jump with a mark of 6.90 meters and first in the 110 hurdles in a time of 14.78. Other first place finishes on the men's side included
Cody Scherle in the javelin with a throw of 57.31 meters.Â
Gabriel McConville was first in the 1500 with a time of 3:54.76.Â
Donavin Meriweather won the 800 in a time of 1:58.12. Â
Angelo Allen and
John Giansante each had two top four finishes on the day. Allen was second in the shot put (15.09 m) and fourth in the discus (40.57 m). Giansante was third in the triple jump (12.92 m) and fourth in the long jump (6.55 m). Â
Kirkland Robins was second in the 400 with a time of 51.45 seconds. Mark Bails was fifth in the event and
Joseph Piper was seventh.Â
Ben Kissell placed third in the 400 hurdles in a time of 57.89.Â
Ben Hartman was third in the 110 hurdles (15.25).Â
Kaden Crump placed third in the 800 (1:58.38) and
Andrew Campbell was sixth in the 100 (11.28). Â
Max Yonko was sixth in the discus (38.65m) while
Zane Baughman was sixth in the shot (13.00m) and
Dwight Sarver was seventh (12.88m). Â
On the women's side,
Isabella Myles was first in the 10K with a time of 40:12.91. SHU had three second place finishes including
Keelin Becker in the triple jump (11.69m),
Darby Roth in the 1500 (4:45.53) and
Alexis Cunningham in the 5k (18:43.31). Â
Alyson Taylor,
Haley Brenny,
Layla Robertson and
Anna Roberts each had two top eight finishes. Taylor was third in the long jump with a leap of 5.20 meters and fifth in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:08.16. Brenny was fourth in both the 100 (13.27) and 200 (26.60). Robertson was fifth in the 200 (26.62) and sixth in the 100 (13.34). Roberts was third in the 400 hurdles (1:06.69) and eighth in the 100 (20.81). Â
Isabelle McCabe was third in the 10K with a time of 41:28.95.Â
Nora Ozimek was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.68m.Â
Kate Pipilo was sixth in the 1500 with a time of 5:01.53.Â
Alyssa Scalia was sixth in the javelin with a toss of 32.64 meters. SHU went 5-6 in the 800 with Jada Freeman fifth (2:29.93) and
Jordan Fairman sixth (2:31.83). Â
SHU will take a week off before competing in the Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg in two weeks. Â
