Men Third, Women Fourth at Carnegie Mellon

The Griffin track and field teams competed in the two day Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Pittsburgh.

Both teams had solid performances with the men's team finishing third with 77 points.  The women's team placed fourth with 73.50 points.  

The women's team had 16 top ten finishes while the men's team added 18 top ten finishes.  

Leading the way for the men's team was Angelo Allen who won the shot put while tying a Seton Hill record with a throw of 15.31 meters.  Allen was also third in the discus with a toss of 44.04 meters.  Hunter Martin won the 110 hurdles in a time of 14.58 seconds.  He was third in the 400 hurdles with a time of 55.16 seconds.  

Zakharee Williams, John Giansante and Jaden Lopez each also had two top ten finishes.  Williams was fourth in the 100 (11.13) and eighth in the 200 (23.07).  Giansante was fourth in the triple jump (12.85m) and fifth in the long jump (6.13m).  Lopez was fifth in the hammer (42.18m) and tenth in the shot put (13.02m).  

Ben Hartman was second in the 110 hurdles in a time of 14.87.  Gabriel McConville was third in the 5000 with a time of 14:58.40.  Cody Scherle placed fourth in the javelin (52.58m).  Max Yonko was fifth in the discus (42.05m) and Dwight Sarver was sixth (41.77m).  Joseph Piper was ninth in the 100 (11.34) and Ben Kissell was tenth in the 400 hurdles (58.83).  

On the women's side, they had three second place finishes.  Alexis Cunningham was second in the 1500 with a time of 4:45.04.  Haley Brenny was second in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:07.37 and Anessa Pigula was second in the steeple with a time of 12:16.70.  

Alyson Taylor, Keelin Becker and Sarah Gilliam each had two top ten finishes.  Taylor was third in the 110 hurdles (15.37) and ninth in the 400 hurdles (1:12.85).  Becker was third in the 400 hurdles (1:07.83) and fifth in the triple jump (10.78m).  Gilliam was sixth in both the shot put (11.83m) and hammer (42.77m).  

Darby Roth was third in the 800 (2:18.04).  Layla Robertson placed fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:07.95).  Madelyn Fike was sixth in the 400 (59.76).  Blair Harris placed eighth in the shot (11.34m).  Isabella Myles was ninth in the 1500 (4:52.52) and Isabelle McCabe was ninth in the 5000 (18:43.69).  Emma Dennison was tenth in the 400 hurdles (1:12.88).  

The teams will run at the Towson Invitational next weekend.
