Some members of the Griffin track and field teams ran in New York this weekend in a pair of events.
The teams competed in the FastTrack National Invitational on Friday and then the Big Apple Invitational on Saturday. Both events were held at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, NY.
On Friday,
Gabriel McConville broke his own school record with a fourth place finish in the mile. He ran 4:11.96 to break his record by nearly three seconds.
Hunter Martin also was seventh in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.29 seconds.
Darby Roth was fifth in the mile with a time of 5:05.79 while
Alexis Cunningham was sixth in a time of 5:06.28.
On Saturday, Martin had a pair of first place finishes including an NCAA provo mark in the long jump. Martin hit a mark of 7.21 meters. He also ran 8.31 in the 60 hurdles to place first.
Ben Hartman was sixth in the 60 hurdles in 8.65 seconds. McConville placed seventh in the 800 with a time of 1:55.49.
John Giansante was tenth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.01 meters.
Roth was fifth in the 800 on Saturday. She ran a time of 2:16.89. The 4x4 relay team of
Haley Brenny,
Alyson Taylor, Roth and
Layla Robertson was fifth in a time of 4:03.41. Cunningham placed eighth in the 3K with a time of 10:14.82.
The teams will run in the Penn State Tune Up next weekend.
