Seton Hill took part in the Ohio Intercollegiate Open on Sunday in an event hosted by Case Western University.
The Griffins had four place winners in the event led by
William Burgess who won the 125 pound weight class. Â
Burgess won the top event at 125 pounds.Â
Kyle Burkholder was fifth at 133 pounds.Â
Brendan Finnerty placed sixth at 197 pounds. Niko Ferra was third at 141 pounds in the freshman/sophomore bracket. Â
Burgess opened his day with a win by fall (2:10). William advanced to the finals with a 2-0 decision in the semifinals. Burgess won the title with an 8-4 win in the finals. Â
After dropping his first round match, Burkholder won four straight matches to finish fifth. He won two of the matches by fall and the other two by decision. Â
Finnerty earned a win by fall to advance to the quarterfinals. After a loss in the quarters, he won two matches by tech fall before falling in the fifth place match for a sixth place finish. Â
Ferra won his first two matches by decision to advance to the semifinals. Ferra dropped a decision in the semifinals before a 10-5 win in the third place match. Â
The Griffins will travel to the Fairmont State Duals next weekend. Â
