The Griffin wrestlers opened their season at the University of Buffalo Duals on Wednesday afternoon with three matches.
SHU opened up with a 36-7 loss to Division I Buffalo in the opening match. The Griffins then responded with a pair of wins. Seton Hill defeated Niagara County Community College 39-13 and then defeated SUNY Brockport 30-16. SHU opens the season with a 2-1 record.
Against Buffalo,
William Burgess led the Griffins with a major decision and
Kyle Burkholder added a decision.
In the win over Brockport, Burkholder and
Riley O'Mara won by fall.
Collin Hearn and
Brendan Finnerty each won by tech fall.
Ethan Cain and
Nolan Daerr won by major decision.
SHU closed out the day with the win over Niagara County CC and Burgess,
Kane Kettering, O'Mara and Finnerty won by fall. Hearn and Cain won by tech fall.
Kyle Burkholder won by major decision.
The Griffins will wrestle in the Glenville State Invitational this weekend.
