For the third consecutive season, the Griffin baseball team has been selected as the preseason favorites in the PSAC West according to the PSAC Baseball Coaches Preseason Poll. The poll was released by the league office on Thursday afternoon and was voted on by the head baseball coaches in the league.
The Griffins earned four of the eight first place votes to top the poll. Mercyhurst was second in the poll. Gannon picked up three first place votes and was third. Slippery Rock earned the other first place vote and was fourth. Indiana (PA) rounded out the top five. California (PA), Pitt Johnstown and Clarion closed out the bottom three.
Millersville, West Chester and East Stroudsburg split the nine first place votes in the east. Millersville was named the preseason favorite followed by West Chester and East Stroudsburg. Shippensburg and Bloomsburg rounded out the top five. Shepherd, Mansfield, Lock Haven and Kutztown rounded out the poll.
Seton Hill will open the 2023 season with a three game set in Cary, NC against the University of Findlay on February 18 and 19. SHU will then host Walsh the following weekend for a three game set. Seton Hill will travel to Florida for their spring trip from March 4th - 11th. PSAC West play begins the weekend of March 24-25 with a four game set with California (PA). SHU closes out PSAC West play against Mercyhurst the weekend of May 4 and 5. The PSAC Tournament will be played in Slippery Rock with the NCAA Atlantic Regionals and Super Regionals to follow in mid to late May. The 2023 NCAA Baseball Championships will be in Cary, NC from June 3rd- 10th.
