The Griffins took a break from PSAC West play as they looked to extend their winning streak to five with a PSAC Crossover matchup at home with Bloomsburg.
Seton Hill used a 52-34 advantage in the second half as they were able to pull away from the Huskies for a 90-61 victory. SHU has now won five straight and is now 11-6 overall and 6-5 in the PSAC.
Samuel Tabe scored four of the first six points in the contest as SHU took a quick 6-0 lead two minutes into the contest. Two baskets from Tabe and
James Rice extended the lead to 10-3 with 15:54 to play. Bloomsburg battled back to tie the score at 17 midway through the half.
The Griffins responded with nine straight points as they took a 26-7 lead.
Gabe Gillespie, Tabe and
Michael Joiner scored two points and
Ryan Meis added a three in the run. After four straight from the Huskies, Gillespie hit a layup and
Drew Green drained a three as SHU took a 31-21 lead with 4:23 to play. The Griffins took a 38-27 lead into the halftime break.
The teams exchanged baskets over the first four minutes of the half. In less than a three minute stretch, the Griffins went on another 9-0 run to push their lead to twenty five points.
Sean Dillon scored seven of the nine points for the Griffins during the 9-0 run. A three pointer from
Jimmy Moon and another Tabe basket extended the lead to thirty, 71-41, midway through the half.
Seton Hill continued to cruise throughout the final ten minutes as they were able to push their lead to as many as 37 points.
Seton Hill shot very well from the field, finishing at 58% from the field. SHU held Bloomsburg to just 44% from the floor. The Griffins also forced 21 turnovers. Seton Hill scored 62 of their 90 points in the paint.
Tabe posted a double double of a season and game high 30 points and 10 rebounds. Gillespie finished with 11 points. Dillon and Meis each also reached double figures with 10 points.
The Griffins will return to PSAC West play on Monday evening as they host California (PA).
