On the same day he is scheduled to compete at NCAA National Championships,
Samuel Hartman earned another award, as he was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's Cross Country/Track & Field Team.
With his selection, Hartman is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All American Teams, which will be announced in June.
The 2021-22 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.
The 2021 national champion in the 110 and 400 Hurdles, Hartman qualified for this year's championships in both events, which are being held this week at Grand Valley State. Hartman won the PSAC Championship in the 110 and 400 Hurdles. He enters the championships this week with the seventh fastest time in the country in the 110 hurdles and ninth best time in the 400 hurdles.
Hartman is no stranger to academic awards either. A Computer Science/Cybersecruity major with a GPA of 3.80, Hartman was a First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American last year, as well as the USTFCCCA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2021.
To qualify for the academic all-district honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.30 GPA or higher and must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution. Nominees must also be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.
